Fiberglass
Fiberglass is the main component used in the fabrication of your boat. Fiberglass
is referred to as F.R.P. [fiber re-enforced plastic]. Fine glass strands are woven
into patterns for finish or ridged strength (i.e. cloth or woven roving). The glass
may also be chopped into short strands and held together with a binder to form a
matting used for bulk and thickness. When used in construction of a ridged form
the glass fibers are saturated with a fast setting plastic resin and layered into a
form known as a mold. Your boat was built in a mold that was pre-painted with
gel-coat; the outside finish of the boat. The
gel-coat is the finish, or color,
providing beauty and protection for the fiberglass.

Much of the inside structure of your boat is wood or plywood covered and held in
place with fiberglass. The wood in your boat is used to provide stiffness to the
fiberglass, or to provide a flat floor.

At Bragg's Marine we understand fiberglass, your boat, and how it was built.  We
have also built many boats ourselves, as we started out as a boat manufacturing
company. With over thirty years of experience in the boat business we have seen
and repaired a vast amount of damage. From structural impact damage, to rotted
wood re-enforcements, or even that misplaced speaker mounting screw sticking
out the side, rest assured we can fix anything, as good as new.
